In 1858, the State of Texas created Blanco County from portions of Comal, Hays, Burnet, and Gillespie counties. With Blanco as its new county seat, along the picturesque Blanco River, the country grew with farming and ranching.
In 2008, citizens of the current county seat, Johnson City, and the city of Blanco celebrate the 150th birthday of the county in which they live. Everyone is invited to attend a year worth of events.
